Sibiu County Few Romanian cities are as pleasant as Sibiu. The city has two easily walkable levels: the ?upper town?, which contains most of Sibiu?s historic sights, and the ?lower town?, which is a charming area filled with old houses and cobbled squares. There are over 100 attractions of national importance in Sibiu and 40 more in the surrounding countryside. The city of Sibiu is surrounded by a number of charming villages with fortified churches and brightly colored houses. This area, called ?Marginimea Sibiului? contains 18 villages and is situated deep in the Cibin Mountains. These villages are very rich in architecture, history and heritage. The inhabitants are shepherds who preserved their traditions and folk costumes. |
