Cluj County Cluj is at the heart of the famed Transylvania, and has sometimes been called the ?capital? of this historic region. Its administrative center is the City of Cluj, which boasts a historic city center, a university, and international hotels. In the countryside, however, visitors can experience the real Transylvania.

Among the scenic, historic and cultural attractions of Cluj County are the following: Beli?, Dealul Negru (?the Black Hill?) ? 2 km from Beli? Beli? is situated at the foot of Vl?deasa Mountains from Apuseni Mountains, at an altitude of 1,125 meters, in the northwest part of the Cluj County. Beli? is 77 km from the municipality of Cluj-Napoca. Among the attractions in the area is Beli?-F?nt?nele Lake, which is stretched over a distance of 27 km. Because of the terrain, hiking is popular in the areas of Poiana Horea, Padi? karst Plateau, T?rni?a Lake, St?na de Vale Hut, Moara Dracului Waterfall, Le?u Ursului Barrage, andVl?deasa Hut. Excursions on horse-drawn sleds are also possible. Anglers and hunters will enjoy the area surrounding Beli?-F?nt?nele Lake, while historians will be intrigued by the ?Crucea Iancului? Monument (Iancului?s Cross Monument). Ierii Valley The Ierii Valley commune is in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains, in the southwest part of Cluj County. The Ierii Valley is bordered on the northeast by Muntele Mare (Big Mountain) and by the Gilaului Mountains on the south. The mountains are rich in diversified flora and fauna, as well as with indigenous wildlife. From a recreational standpoint, the B?i?oara Spa Resort offers a healing climate that is close to nature. In addition, a number of mountain itineraries are available either by hiking, horse-drawn sled or cart. In the winter, skiing and sledding are the sports of choice for both locals and tourists. Ic-Ponor Ic-Ponor is situated at the boarder of the counties of Cluj, Alba and Bihor, in the famous karst mountainous region. Nearby is Padi? and Ponorului Fortress, on the shore of Some?ul Cald (?Hot Some??). From a recreational standpoint, visitors may enjoy Ponorului Fortress, a natural reservation; Cheile Galbenei (the Gorges of Galbenei?); Poiana Florilor; Cheile Somesului Cald (?the Gorges of Hot Some??); the caves as Focul Viu (?the Alive Fire?), Zmeilor (?Dragons? Cave?), Alunu, Pe?tera Ur?ilor (?Bears? Cave), Sc?rioara Cave, Cascada Miresei (?the Bride?s Waterfall?); Giurcu?a de Sus Church; and Beli?-F?n?nele Lake. Swimming, fishing and horseback riding is also available. S?ncrai S?ncrai village is located in Cluj County, on the shore of the Calata River. It is at an altitude of 600 m and is the north entrance gate into the Apuseni Mountains. In Sancrai, popular traditions still live and the inhabitants proudly wear the beautiful traditional costumes. The embroidery from this part of the country is very famous. S?ncraiu, one of the most beautiful villages from Calata region, is built on the shore of the Calata River, at a distance of approximately 5 km from Huedin. The surrounding mountains are dominated by Vl?deasa Peak (1,836 meters). The landscape?s variety ? gorges, caves, waterfalls and forests ? provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable walk. Seven artificial lakes in the region are havens for anglers, scuba divers or those enjoying water sports. Sancrai was founded in 1288 and due to the very skillful artisans ? carpenters, smiths, furriers, brick masons - the village is very famous.
